About UsChoi Kwang Do Christchurch, Canterbury is owned and run by Balanced Outcomes NZ Ltd. Owner and Director, Mark Palmer, established Balanced Outcomes in 2006 on his return to Christchurch from Australia. Balanced Outcomes also encompasses the Natural Therapy work that Mark Practices: Bowen Therapy & Kinesiology. Mark’s philosophy is to teach and pass on to people of all walks of life practical skills to assist them in a fulfilling life. He embraces the principles of Choi Kwang Do to provide a safe, positive training environment for all students who come to train at the school. The school utilizes the facility of the St Albans Uniting Church Hall in Berwick Street, Cranford Street, St Albans. 
The Chief Instructor of Christchurch Choi Kwang Do is Mark Palmer. Mark returned home to Christchurch after living in Cairns for thirteen years. It is while in Cairns that Mark learnt the art of Grandmaster Choi, training at the Gordonvale School run by Chief Instructor Barry Hampton. Mark attained the rank of 1st Degree Black Belt in November 2005. Mark is a qualified Bowen Therapist and Kinesiologist. He has witnessed first hand from many of his clients the injuries that can be caused by improper use of the human body during Martial Arts, sports and lifestyles. On returning to Christchurch Mark worked for The Ministry of Education Special Education unit working with special needs children. Mark continues to pursue his interest in the field of human movement and brain function with his Martial Arts and Kinesiology and also runs pilot programs with local schools to assist special needs and behaviorally challenged children He is also a very keen snow skier and cyclist and committed to providing a safe and friendly atmosphere for all students who come to train at the Choi Kwang Do school.
Student Oath and TenentsAs mentioned in the Cultural and Historical Foundations of Choi Kwang-Do, the development of mental strength and a positive attitude is important for all Choi Kwang-Do students. The Student Oath and The Tenets of Choi Kwang-Do were established to help serve this purpose and are recited prior to each class. The Adult students recite the Pledge and the Children recite the Promise, which is easier for our younger students to understand. All Students are expected to apply the statements in the Oath and in the Tenets to their lives both in and out of the Dojang on a daily basis.
